Liberation cake according to family recipe
The visit starts with a special and tasteful moment: the liberation cake, prepared according to a family recipe from the Second World War. Served with coffee or tea, you can hear the story behind this tradition, which ensures a unique and meaningful start to the day.
Walking through the 40s
After the reception, a tour of approximately 60 minutes will follow the exhibitions Choices in Almersdorp and Road to Freedom. Under the guidance of a guide you walk through a covered 40s village and you experience what daily life looked like for ordinary citizens during the German occupation, and what difficult choices they were confronted with.
In the military exhibition you will become acquainted with impressive and less well-known operations that have contributed to the liberation, such as the large-scale transport operation “Red Ball Express”. After the tour there is plenty of time to further discover the museum at your own pace.
