Travelling by
Between Hoorn and Medemblik, the steam trams travel from village to village through the countryside. The locomotive blows its whistle, the stoker shovels coal onto the fire, and the route winds its way through the countryside between the historic Zuiderzee towns.

Steam tram, boat and tram station
The Steam tram runs between Hoorn and Medemblik. Depending on the programme, the trip can be extended to include a journey on the museum ship Friesland. This ship sails across the IJsselmeer between Medemblik and Enkhuizen. Together, the tram and boat form a day trip through the Historic Triangle.
A visit can be extended to include Hoorn Tram Station. At this station, your group will be taken back in time by around 100 years. Visitors can view the ‘The Timeline’ exhibition, walk past the signal box and the locomotive depot, and take a look inside the Bello Workshop, where the Tram Bello is being restored.
Catering can be provided on board, ranging from coffee to lunch. This makes the route easy to fit into a day’s program for groups.

A day trip through the Historic Triangle takes on average half a day to a full day. The exact duration depends on the chosen route, any extra stops and combinations with other locations.
